- The 38°F cold on Monday morning really cut my battery life down...
After running various errands and getting the baby to daycare, I
barely made it into work going 10mph. The Xantrex battery meter said
I had 40% of my charge left, but I was obviously done for the morning
at 30 miles exactly. (The last two miles were slow going.) Luckily,
I made it to work, plugged in, and tucked the episode away in my brain
as another data point of how my electric car acts in cold weather. It
seem to cut my range by a third, which seems in line with other
people's observations.
- On the positive side, I have now crossed 3,000 miles of all electric
driving since my car conversion was completed in June.
- Also... props to the HEB at US183 and Braker Lane for letting me
opportunity charge there while grocery shopping on Tue. The manager,
who seemed younger than me, seemed really interested and pointed out
plugs next to the vending machines.
