[ausev] conversions

I'm getting ready to start installing the parts I've been acquiring from
ebay and other sources into one of my car conversions and into my
motorcycle conversion. I've noticed that some estimates for a motorcycle
conversion on this forum are in the 1200-1500 dollar range and although
this seems low by some estimates of components used it is also high if
you can find the right components. I recently purchased a Honda Goldwing
rolling chassis with title for 100.00 dollars and have been able to sell
some of the parts I don't want on ebay. All of the motors I've purchased
for the motorcycle have been around 100.00 and that included shipping.
They might not be the optimal motor but my plan is to show anyone
interested that you don't have to use the best of the best to get a
working vehicle and this will hopefully generate a clientele for me or
others to convert their donor vehicles or get them interested enough to
persue a conversion by someone or attempt it on their own.. I don't plan
on getting rich but I sure would like to convert vehicles for other
people and make a couple of bucks at it. I also plan on designing and
building my own controllers as well as other custom parts where off the
shelf parts are not available. This forum has been a great inpsiration,
however my first inspiration came back in the 70's when gasoline first
peaked at what we thought was an unreasonable price. Anyway, I'm not an
expert on conversions but I've spent most of my lifge working with
robotics and many years with the Univ. of Texas in high energy
technology research, including the TOKAMAK with the UT Physics dept. for
many years.
Power On folks.
