Well, yes, that's true.  I suppose the charging ckt would include 
stepping the DC generator's output voltage up to the battery pack's 
proper charging voltage.

Coordinating all this I assumed would be the function of the motor 
controller, but I can see how you could visualize regen as a separate 
assembly.
