72V is low, but the system was designed to be a launch assist hybrid system and 72V was chosen to keep prices down. But of course we wanted to see if it would drive around on EV only mode.
30 mph was probably around 1500 rpm.

What rpm is the motor at at 30 mph? 72V seems pretty low. This is very helpful info.
thanks,

Ben,
I’ve hooked up a 9” Netgain DC motor with 72V/1200A controller directly to the rear driveshaft on a 2008 GMC 1500 (½ ton) truck. Very slow and low top speed (20-30 mph?)

As I've been working on my differentials, I got to thinking about
what it would take to run my ev cj7 w/out a tranny or transfercase
(2 save weight and simplify).
I was thinking about running a larger dual shaft ev motor.
My specs:
4.88 axle ratio
28.5" tires
with these numbers, I'd be at 3742 RPM's for 65 mph.
I would hook up yokes directly to the motor shafts. I would only hook
up the front driveshaft to the front yoke when I actually need 4wd, otherwise
only the output yoke would be attached.
I'm not planning on running lithium batteries for weight savings.
One thing I'm trying to figure out is if I can get a strong enough ac motor.
I may go w/ a large reversable dc motor if necessary.
I'm trying to figure out if I ran this config, could I get out of my own way...
hmmm
