Formula SAE Electric:
Formula SAE was founded at the University of Texas 40 years ago by our faculty sponsor Dr. Ron Matthews. Since then, the Formula SAE competition has grown into an international engineering phenomenon in which hundreds of teams from around the world design, build, and compete highly advanced vehicles. The Formula Electric Team at UT was formed in 2016 by a team of very passionate engineers at our school who wanted to push the boundaries of what our vehicles could do. Our young team is fueled by a culture of education, sustainability, and innovation. Our students have a front row seat to the electric vehicle revolution, gaining hands on experience with electrical components. We are also committed to learning and passing on that knowledge as the team continues to grow. In the coming years, we aim to maintain our explosive growth and continue our improvement at competition.
Solar Vehicle Team:
The University of Texas Solar Vehicle Team is a multidisciplinary team striving to build the fastest, most efficient solar powered vehicle capable of winning international competitions. Since 1989, we have conquered real-world problems, challenging students in areas such as energy management, aerodynamics, and composite material fabrication. The team’s focus on renewable energy puts us at the forefront of the current cultural shift towards clean energy and energy efficiency. In the next few years, we aim to compete internationally and continue to develop our rapidly growing team.
