Grab a friend, pick who’s driving and who’s navigating, and come spend a Sunday morning on some of the prettiest back roads in the Hill Country. As part of National Drive Electric Month, AustinEV is hosting a free road rally and scavenger hunt from Dripping Springs to Johnson City, and everyone is welcome — you don’t need to own an electric vehicle to play.
How it works
Teams of two (a driver and a navigator) set out from the Tesla Superchargers in Dripping Springs and follow a scenic, narrow, twisty route toward Johnson City. This isn’t a race. Along the way you’ll keep an eye out for landmarks and answer observation questions like “What color is the house on the corner of 5th and Main?” The team that pays the closest attention wins bragging rights, and the scoring at our last rally came down to a single point, so every answer counts.
The route ends at a restaurant in Johnson City, where we’ll grab lunch together, compare answers, and see who was really paying attention.

Plan on the morning plus lunch, wrapping up in the early afternoon.
Don’t have a teammate? No problem.
If you’d like to drive but don’t have a navigator, or you’d rather ride along and handle the clue sheet, sign up anyway and we’ll match you onto a team. It’s a great way to meet other EV owners in the area.
A note on charging
The start location has eight Tesla Superchargers (up to 250 kW), and there are additional chargers at the Lowe’s Market near our destination in Johnson City. Both are available around the clock, so you can top up before you leave or before you head home.
